Syria Reports Deadly Attack on Military Bus in Hasakah Countryside

(MENAFN) Two Syrian soldiers lost their lives Monday after unidentified attackers targeted a military transport bus in the countryside of Hasakah in northeastern Syria, according to official statements.

According to reports citing a Defense Ministry statement carried by a news agency, several additional soldiers were wounded during the assault. Authorities did not release further information about the attackers or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Although security conditions in Syria have improved since the collapse of former President Bashar al-Assad’s government on Dec. 8, 2024, a number of areas across the country continue to experience explosions and violent incidents that officials frequently classify as “terrorist acts.”

Syrian authorities say they are continuing operations aimed at tracking down remnants of the former regime, whom they accuse of fueling instability and unrest in different parts of the country. The government has also reiterated its commitment to preventing threats to domestic security and maintaining stability nationwide.
