According to reports, Shaibani’s comments are delivered during a joint press conference with EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica on the sidelines of the EU–Syria Partnership Forum in Brussels.
He says Syria is working to establish long-term institutional cooperation with European partners, moving beyond a relationship based mainly on humanitarian assistance toward a broader partnership grounded in shared interests.
Shaibani also notes that Damascus is engaging with European countries “with the utmost seriousness,” according to reports.
The remarks come on the same day the European Union restores the full application of its cooperation agreement with Syria, marking a further step in rebuilding ties following the political changes after the fall of the former Assad-led government.
